Marrakech is a Moroccan city, known as a Pearl of the South or the Gate to the Southern Morocco and the red City or ocher City, in the lands interior, at the foot of the Atlas Mountains.

The city was founded in 1062 by Youssef Ibn Tachfin king of the Berber community during the Almoravid dynasty. In the past, Morocco was known in the East as Marrakesh.

The city is divided into two distinct parts: the Medina or historic (ten kilometers pregnant) and the new city whose principal districts are called Gueliz and Hivernage.

Marrakech has long been a major political, economic and cultural center of the western Muslim world, the North Africa and Andalusia. Grandiose monuments date back to this period: the mosque of the Koutoubiya, the Casbah, ramparts, gates, gardens, etc. Later, the city will host other wonders such as the BANDIA Palace, Ben Youssef Madrasa, the Saadian tombs, grand mansions, etc. Jemaa El Fna square, a veritable open-air theater, always amazes its visitors.

Amazing colors, overwhelming spirits, inspiring landscape – this is just a small part of what you’ll find in Marrakesh, the city of stunning mosques and bright markets, ancient city centers . Most visitors don’t realize that Marrakech and Morocco in general offers over forty golf facilities and is visited by more and more golfers every year the Marrakech Amelkis Golf Club is a convincing evidence.

The world five-star views from desert dunes to the snow-covered peaks of the Atlas mountains …and water hazards galore!Tricky holes with double doglegs and water hazards are far more than decorative on this golf site. The most intriguing hole of all of the twenty-seven is said to be the par-five number-6 on the Red: it requires a blind drive off the tee avoiding two lakes.

Opened in 1995, the Amelkis golf complex (named for a Berberian queen) originally consisted of two nine-hole tracks- the Blue and the Red and was joined in 2009 by the slightly longer Green nine. Currently, a fourth nine is being designed so as to offer the most memorable and variable golf facilities.
